Tissafil - Specialists for technical yarn products
The company "Nouvelle Tissafil" whose former centre of activity was the manufacturing of synthetic and cellulose fibres is nowadays a versatile supplier of industrial and textile yarns. In order to strengthen the core competences continuously and to provide space for new production facilities and technologies the company is going to receive a new plant at the site La Grand-Croix (please see picture below) and will then operate as a turning platform for production and distribution for southern Europe.

In order to satisfy the growing demand of our customers regarding service and availability of the products, the Culimeta group is continiously expanding by establishing new plants and distribution offices. Presently the Culimeta group of industries has got approx. 140 employees in five plants.

The raw material
Drawn to bushings at high speed, textile glass is a glass obtained in a melting process and assembled to make a thread consisting of up to a thousand filaments. The individual filaments are so thin that their diameter is defined in micrometer (µm). High tensile strength, minimal dilation and very low density are the special features which result in extremely favorable strength compared with other materials:
- extremely good thermal and electrical insulation
- resistance to most acids, oils, fats and solvents
- noncombustible; temperature resistant to over 1000° C / 1832° F
- not hazardous to health
To achieve optimal results under the wide variety of industrial conditions three types of textile glass have proved particularly versatile and these constitute the basis for our successful range of products:
E-glass fibers
The E-glass fiber is one of the most widespread and therefore the most important type of glass fiber. It is made of approx. 55% SiO2 and is particularly suitable for electrical applications and thermal insulation up to approx. 500° C / 932° F. It is also important as a reinforcement fiber in composite materials.
Silica glass fibers
These glass fibers generated from E-glass and E-glass related materials consists of approx. 95% SiO2 and have been specially developed for use as heat protection and insulation material in the temperature range from 500° to 1000° C / 932° to 1832° F. They have good mechanical properties and very high thermal and chemical resistance.
